Dr.Longsing Teron

Dr. Longsing Teron is a distinguished scholar, journalist, and social activist who has spent over three decades at the forefront of the intellectual and political life of Northeast India. As the Chief Editor of the Karbi daily newspaper Thekar, he brings the perspective of a veteran practitioner to his academic rigor. Dr. Teron’s life has been defined by leadership, high-stakes diplomacy, and community service. His journey into leadership began during his student days, where he held several key positions, eventually serving as the President of the Journalist Association. A seasoned mediator and social worker, he played a historic role in the regional peace process as a bridge between the government and the Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), an armed organization that has since disbanded following a successful peace accord. This follows his earlier landmark work as the Chief Convenor of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) during the peace processes of the 2005 Ethnic Conflict. A sought-after motivational speaker and PhD holder in Mass Communication from Assam University, Dr. Teron currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Centre for Studies in Languages at Dibrugarh University, Diphu Centre and is the Director of the Centre for Studies in Karbi Language and Culture. His lifelong dedication to the preservation of his heritage earned him international recognition at the Global Tribal Business Forum in Dubai in 2025. He has won many accolades and felicitation on several occasions.
