Prof. Dr. Anjalli Vachhani
Professor
Prof. Dr. Anjalli Vachhani is a Professor in the Department of Accountancy at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. With over 22 years of teaching experience, she has mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students in Accountancy, Commerce, and Management.
She was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy degree in October 2024 from the prestigious University of Mumbai. This book is a revised and expanded version of her doctoral thesis titled “An Evaluative Study of Consumer Preferences for Self-made Itineraries and Holiday Package Tours of the Inhabitants in Mumbai”, which explores the evolving landscape of consumer behaviour in the travel sector. This scholarly milestone is the culmination of meticulous intellectual inquiry, sustained perseverance, and a deep-seated commitment to
advancing theoretical and practical understanding within the broader fields of Commerce and Management.
Dr. Vachhani’s research interests lie at the intersection of commerce, consumer behaviour,
and tourism management. Her doctoral study examined how residents of Mumbai make
choices between self-planned trips and pre-packaged holiday tours. Through empirical
research involving surveys and statistical analysis, the study provides important insights into
the factors that influence travel decisions such as cost, convenience, personalisation, and
trust. Her work contributes meaningfully to both academic literature and to practical
strategies for the tourism and hospitality industry in India.
Over the course of her 22-year academic career at H.R. College, one of Mumbai’s premier
institutions for commerce education, Dr. Vachhani has played an active role in curriculum
development, student guidance, and academic initiatives. She is known for her student-centric
approach to teaching and for connecting theoretical concepts with real-world business and
industry practices.
Dr. Vachhani has presented papers at national conferences and contributed to academic
discussions on Accountancy and Consumer Research. She believes that research must remain
relevant and accessible, and she continues to encourage students to take up research that
addresses contemporary social and economic issues.
Beyond academia, Dr. Vachhani has a keen interest in travel, cultural studies, and responsible
tourism. This book is the culmination of years of research, teaching, and engagement with
students and industry. Dr. Vachhani hopes it will serve as a valuable resource for students,
researchers, academicians, and tourism professionals interested in understanding the
changing preferences of Indian consumers.
