Textbooks are the first source by which students gain knowledge on any particular subject. There are a number of subjects on which the publishers might publish the textbooks. The textbooks may be on subjects like Technology, Social Sciences, Science, Medicine, Hindi, Mathematics, Science and General Knowledge, besides pre-school books and sourcebooks. There may also be books that help students crack entrance examinations(medical, engineering, management etc.)

Below are the steps which must be followed while getting textbooks published by any publisher:

• The first step is to send the proposal of the textbook you want to get published.
• The second step is to submit your manuscript to the publisher, either by hand or as an attachment in the mail.
• As soon as the publisher accepts to publish your book, they may mail you the price quote.
• The publisher may ask you to pay an advance amount before the actual work starts. You may be provided with an invoice mentioning the amount paid and the amount due.
• Once this gets done, the team at the publishing house begin their work, which may be language copyediting, technical editing and typeset proof, designing the book cover etc.
• The above step/process may take up to 1-2 weeks.
• After the team has completed their work, the first draft is sent to you for your approval. If you find any errors, then immediately inform the publisher so that the changes can be made then and there.
• A final copy of the book is mailed to you before it goes for printing. At this stage, the publisher may want you to clear the remaining amount mentioned in the invoice.
• After a week or so, the textbook is finally ready to be delivered to you.

When the book is in the printing process, the publisher takes full responsibility for promoting the book on various social media platforms.
